Is Coaching the right thing for me?

Coaching is useful in a wide variety of situations and can help you move forward and develop or maximize your potential. If you have the feeling that you could use support or if you affirm one of the following, exemplary points for yourself, then you are also ready to engage in coaching.

You can also find more topics areas in What is Coaching?

On the other hand, if you are not ready to work on yourself or even to be questioned, then you better not waste your money and time as well as of the coach.

Who is the best coach for me? How can I recognize him or her?

The best coach is the one who can help you with your specific concerns within a reasonable time frame. While the chemistry between coach and coachee should be right; this does not necessarily mean that you will “love” your coach to everyone. Especially when it comes to unleashing your potential, a good coach can definitely challenge you and be uncomfortable in the process. Read more in: How to find the best coach

How is it different from therapy?

In coaching we work with psychologically healthy people. Coaching is neither a psychological treatment nor a therapy. It is also not a naturopathic method. Coaches do not cure diseases or psychoses.

How is it different from counseling?

Counseling is an educational-therapeutic form of counseling. Here the counselor/counselor is the expert, whereas in coaching the coachee is the expert of his or her own life. The coach exposes the coachee’s own resources, while a counselor tends to recommend courses of action.

How is this different from mentoring?

Coaching is useful in a wide variety of situations and can help you move forward and develop or maximize your potential. If you have the feeling that you could use support or if you affirm one of the following, exemplary points for yourself, then you are also ready to engage in coaching.

What does systemic coaching mean?

In the systemic approach, we see people in their respective life situations as part of a system. This includes, for example, your present family, your family of origin, your professional life, your partnership, etc. It is important to understand that changes in one arena of life have an impact on other parts of the system. For example, if you have children, it will affect your partnership, your professional life, etc. Or from your new project with all the overtime, there are interactions on your family and social environment. Likewise, a team or a company is a system. Changes in one employee or department lead to consequences elsewhere.

The goal of systemic coaching is to help you achieve inner clarity and satisfaction in all areas of your life. You do not get a model imposed on you that it has to be this way and that way, but it is about your own, defined balance of these so-called arenas of life according to your priorities.

What does coaching cost me?

What your goals and your own development are worth to you. It is true that coaches charge different prices and you can easily inquire about them and accordingly decide freely. But more essential for the answer is: What do you want to achieve? Where do you want to develop? And what is it worth to you? Everybody has only one life and can realize his dreams only in this time. With a coach you can reach your goal more efficiently.

This often pays off very quickly. We can see it more simply in business coaching: If the intervention of a coach leads to a million euros more profit, then the investment of 50,000 € in this coach is a piece of cake.

Moreover, compare it with an athlete! He knows his goal. He masters his sport. And yet he takes on a coach to maximize his potential. Because he knows he only has a limited amount of time to get to the top. And to do that, he doesn’t just book a lesson, but works on himself continuously.

Can I book only one hour? Does that make sense?

Yes, of course you can also book only a single hour! Whether this makes sense depends on your request. Sometimes you are stuck or can’t make up your mind. In such cases, a single hour can be quite sufficient to regain clarity and get unstuck.

In other cases, especially with your own personality development or complex situations, it usually takes a little more time. Discuss this with your coach! Often you can also book a certain program or contingent to keep track of the costs. Often, courses are also offered that can take you further according to your own ideas.

Are there discounts for packages?

The best way to find out is to ask your coach! At 3C – Coaching we offer courses, programs such as the PQ® BootCamp Mental Fitness and also hourly contingents such as clarity and focus. Take a look at the page that interests you, such as Life Coaching or Executive Coaching, or simply ask us without obligation – either via the contact form or by phone.

How does coaching work?

The course of a coaching process depends on the objective and the initial situation. As a rule, a client comes to the coach with a concern, which is then concretized together in goals. Usually these also have to be prioritized. Subsequently, one goal after the other is tackled. This means that in each session a topic or partial aspect is worked on. For the step-by-step process, see also: Coaching Process in What is Coaching?

What is my time commitment?

That is your decision! The decisive factor is what you want to achieve in what time and what you are willing to do for it or how much time you have available. We should also be realistic, because some processes especially in the area of personality or team development need time.

According to this, you can exchange daily, weekly or monthly. There are also time-limited programs such as the PQ® BootCamp Mental Fitness (6 weeks) or the one-year program Realizing Life’s Dream. In addition, retreats are always offered, where life-changing foundations can be laid within a weekend.

Why is there "homework"?

In coaching, you work on yourself with the help of a coach. This means that the actual work happens between coaching sessions. During the joint interactions, it is more about determining what this work consists of and what is meaningful. In this respect, we also have to get away from the idea that a coach solves your “problem”, but rather you solve it with the help of a coach. Think more about sports: You don’t get muscles by the coach doing push-ups.

What are the methods used?

The choice of methods depends on your concern and also on the methods your coach is proficient in and the joint decision of coach and coachee to use them. At 3C – Coaching we follow a systemic approach and also use, for example, Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), hypnosis, Positive Intelligence® or in the business area Marshall Goldsmith Stakeholder Centered Coaching®. This is discussed in a transparent exchange at the beginning of the coaching or in the specific situation.

What is the measure of success? How do I know that the coaching has been useful?

At the beginning of the coaching, the coachee and the coach jointly define the goals of the intervention according to the concern (see What is coaching?). At the same time, the degree of goal achievement is agreed upon and the respective time period is defined. In principle, this corresponds to SMART goal setting. Depending on the scope, milestones can be brought down if necessary. Based on this written agreement, you can see where you are and whether you have reached or exceeded your goals.

Is the coaching content confidential? Is a coach secretive?

Of course, all contents are confidential. However, there is no legal duty of confidentiality as with doctors or lawyers. In concrete terms, this means that if the coachee commits a crime, a coach cannot invoke a law and may have to testify. However, this practically does not occur in everyday life.

In addition, we protect your data in accordance with the law

Apart from this, it may happen in individual cases that a coach asks you whether a session can be recorded, if necessary, in order to experience your own supervision or to obtain further certification. This is therefore for quality assurance/improvement and further training of the coach. However, this will only ever be done with your consent.
